A Conspiracy? - Timeline and Present Status.
This blog will be a collection of stories and references that relate to the formation of the global warming movement. In particular, I want to explore how it began and the motivations and actions of the characters (because they are just people) behind it all.
At the moment, regular people are just cannon fodder for much, much bigger forces at play in the world. There is little, if any positive hope that we will be able to correct things and get back to some kind of normalcy in the near future. The best I can sadly "hope for" is that the Sun Cycles predicting a long cold spell come true and we will be so busy trying to stay warm and feed ourselves that we will run the 'warming movement" out of town on a rail. Rather a sad state of affairs, wouldn't you say.
O.K. so what have we got? Here are a number of literature extracts on the human creation of the global warming movement, starting with a long video from Dr. Tim Ball, one of the leading world scientists who states that it is all politically driven nonsense. Start at 20 minutes if you wish to miss the charts and graphs and get to the dirt.
This whole movement appears to have been created and grown to national importance throughout the life of the Boomer generation. Today, we are still strong in numbers as well as added at least the next two generations to our voting polls and to the discourse that determines the rules, regulations and attitudes that define our societies. The general timeline is as follows.
Pre Boomers (1945 to 1960) - there wasn't much concern about environment until the Boomers grew up. People were concentrating on creating and growing families, the economy was booming providing the good things of life, the Cold War threatened nuclear annihilation, Mao was slaughtering his people in the Red Revolution, Europe was rebuilding as was Japan and Asia, the farms were emptying out in favour of urban life, and immigration to North America was strong. Life was good but came with downsides such as increasing air and water pollution and a disregard for the land generally as we set out to conquer Nature and establish our megacities wherever we wanted them.
The Boomer Generation takes control - In the early 60's the Boomers came of age. It was a time of turmoil and extreme social upheaval as the young people took on the establishment over issues such as the Vietnam War, Watergate, Racial Equality and the right to individual freedoms of movement and expression. One of the issues that began with its roots in these movements was a concern for the environment and also for the cavalier way the human race seemed to be treating it. As economic wealth increased, it brought problems along with it, in particular a growing air and water pollution situation that needed to be corrected as it was harming the health of the populace. Attacks began on methods used to create energy, especially the use of coal which polluted badly but also attacked cleaner technologies such as nuclear which pretty much scared everyone to death in spite of claims of it being a safe method to power the electric grid.
As targets such as Vietnam fell, the activism of many of the Boomers continued and focus on environmental issues was blended into the list of grievances that we demanded be addressed.
Population Growth - soon became apparent as a potential problem as well due to authors such as Paul Ehrlich and the obvious effects of the massive Boomer generation on economics and the demands for all of the benefits of the "American Dream". Growth has been widely excessive and pretty much uncontained over the following decades. Before the Boomers, in 1950 the population of the world was 2.5 billion people (USA 152 million) and today the numbers are world 8.5 billion (USA 350 million).
Paul Ralph Ehrlich - the Population Bomb and what to do about it. Back in my young and impressionable days we became extremely concerned about the fact that the population was growing and given a few decades, it would grow to the point of uncontrollability. All kinds of short term disasters were predicted, led by the messiah of overgrowth, Paul Ralph Ehrlich, who wrote The Population Bomb in 1968. Paul has predicted disasters several times over my lifespan and they really haven't happened exactly as he has said they would BUT we do appear to have reached a stage whereby we are suffering the downsides of our excessive world and local populations.
In particular we have made ourselves susceptible to the weather. We are in harm's way due to our excessive building and expansion of our living space and if we are faced with normal variations in weather events. Paul wanted to get going on population reduction way back then. He had many followers and it appears that there was a concerted organized worldwide movement to reduce population levels and distribute inequities in wealth across the full spectrum of people.
Is this the core argument regarding all of this kufuffal ? Is global warming a red herring. Is it all about reducing population and controlling how they behave on a global basis? Sounds kind of nutty doesn't it? But maybe.........
The Club of Rome was founded in April 1968 by Aurelio Peccei, an Italian industrialist, and Alexander King, a Scottish scientist. It was formed when a small international group of people from the fields of academia, civil society, diplomacy, and industry met at Villa Farnesina in Rome, hence the name.[2] The Club of Rome now consists of current and former heads of state, UN bureaucrats, high-level politicians and government officials, diplomats, scientists, economists.
In 1991, the club published The First Global Revolution. It analyses the problems of humanity, calling these collectively or in essence the "problematique". It notes that, historically, social or political unity has commonly been motivated by enemies in common: "The need for enemies seems to be a common historical factor. Some states have striven to overcome domestic failure and internal contradictions by blaming external enemies. The ploy of finding a scapegoat is as old as mankind itself-when things become too difficult at home, divert attention to adventure abroad. Bring the divided nation together to face an outside enemy, either a real one, or else one invented for the purpose. With the disappearance of the traditional enemy, the temptation is to use religious or ethnic minorities as scapegoats, especially those whose differences from the majority are disturbing. "Every state has been so used to classifying its neighbours as friend or foe, that the sudden absence of traditional adversaries has left governments and public opinion with a great void to fill. New enemies have to be identified, new strategies imagined, and new weapons devised."
"In searching for a common enemy against whom we can unite, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like, would fit the bill. In their totality and their interactions these phenomena do constitute a common threat which must be confronted by everyone together. But in designating these dangers as the enemy, we fall into the trap, which we have already warned readers about, namely mistaking symptoms for causes. All these dangers are caused by human intervention in natural processes, and it is only through changed attitudes and behaviour that they can be overcome. The real enemy then is humanity itself."
note: this was a central theme of the Club of Rome. The above statement was first published in 1974 in their report Mankind at the Turning Point. Obviously, it never went away as they were still quoting it in 1991.
The Pro Nuclear Lobby - Quoting Dr. Patrick Michael from an interview done by Marc Levine of Fox News, the anti oil and gas / global warming scenario was essential started back in the 1970's by an (unamed) group of individuals who wanted to make nuclear power the core infrastructure system of the USA. They believed that the time was right as President Carter presented himself as a nuclear engineer (he was a technician on a sub) and would be favourable to the idea. To overcome suspicion of the safety of nuclear power and enhance the growth of the industry, the global warming argument was used to demonize the use of fossil fuels as a basis for supplying energy to the country.
In order to gain favour for this concept and make it politically acceptable they attacked the oil and gas sector as being environmentally unsound and indeed a future threat to mankind as a whole. Their solution was to expand electrical infrastructure and to use nuclear power as the way to do it.

The Green Movement - in particular today's modern GREENPEACE. - The green movement began in the 1960's and early 1970's (eg. Greenpeace was founded in 1971) when some of the big problems and protests by Boomers of that era were addressed with some degree of success - vietnam, discrimination, nixon, etc. and formed the basis for the "hippie mentality" of free love and socialist living. After slaying the big dragons such as the war they needed a new rallying point to keep the troops organized.
Radical groups shifted their attention to the problems of the environment in order to further their own political agendas which were as old as Marxism itself. Greenpeace, Suzuki et al., were early "go back to the land" proponents leading to today's multiple groups such as today's Extinction Rebellion. All protecting the environment, but really looking to revive the Brave New World of Huxley or Orwell.
They were aided by the pro nuclear lobbyists as somewhere along the way, they enlisted the cooperation of this fledgling green movement. However this didn't work out well for the original group as the movement didn't like nuclear energy any more than oil and gas based energy. Instead of aiding them in getting their desires for nuclear infrastructure, they ended up with the greens hijacking the concept of global warming and climate change as an argument for reduction of energy use in general and elimination of carbon based energy sources completely.
One member of the original anti global warming movement was Bert Boline, who was instrumental in crafting the memorandum citing global warming as a danger and was also the first head of the IPCC when it was formed in 1988.

Formation of the IPCC. - It started out as a project of the World Meteorological Organization and the UN Environmental Program which in turn was first established in 1972. The formation of the IPCC in 1988 was a critical step for the founders of the global warming movement in terms of achieving credibility and a platform from which to preach their gospel to the world. From this small beginning it has grown into the monster that it is today, with over 2500 "scientists" working directly for it and wielding enormous world influence.
The warming scenario was somewhat hard to sell during the 1970's as it coincided with a 60 year minimum and there was actually fear at that time that another mini ice age was coming (they were correct in their thinking but out on their timing). see Grand Minimum 2030. By 1990 there was a warming trend, but this coincided with a progression to a 60 year maximum that occurred in 2000. This 1970 to 2000 period was the time of opportunity as people could relate to a warming world and feel the fear that it would go on warming without stopping.
In 1988 it was finally "acknowledged" that climate was warmer than any period since 1880. The greenhouse effect theory was named and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was founded by the United Nations Environmental Programme and the World Meteorological Organization. This organization tries to predict the impact of the greenhouse effect according to existing climate models and literature information.
note: It is not mandated to even consider the nature of natural mechanisms such as Sun cycles for example, but only to consider the effect that mankind is having on climate through the greenhouse cycle and what to do about it. But it is well known and documented that it "drives" the movement through its selective and biased reported on so called independent research looking to prove the theory even though conclusions have already been made and actions are being taken.

The 97% of Scientists Agree Myth is born 2003 - the source of the argument is revealed and the manipulation of the statistics over time is described in the following video. Naomi Oreskes, an American historian, first claimed that 97% of scientists agreed that man made global warming was due to C02 emissions.
Al Gore published his epic fantasy - An Inconvenient Truth - in 2006 and scared everyone to death - I'm not really sure when the paranoia about carbon burning began but certainly Al Gore's publishing of his book had to be a marker moment. Full of errors and exaggerations it served its purpose of convincing a legion of followers that we were headed for disaster if we didn't curb our addiction to petroleum. It spawned a movement that exists into this day and continues to vilify petrofuels and demand the end of their use. This view is mostly a European and North American phenomena however as the major Asian countries continue to build coal fired power plants, search for oil around the world and sell solar alternatives into the Americn market. While other countries have set standards for C02 (and Al supervises the trading of carbon credits) China, India and other neighbours burn at will, with little to show for reduction of this supposed dangerous material.
AND TODAY'S STATUS - described in massive detail in the following reference. Quite depressing really. We're definitely screwed. Depends on how long it takes to complete its mission. Watch out for Jennifer Morgan and Al Gore, Naomi Klein, David Suzuki, Neil Young, Michael Mann, James Hanson, Justin Trudeau, Greenpeace, Extinction Rebellion, Suzuki Foundation, and pretty much any local politician that wants to get elected.
