Where is Our Global Temperature? - and Is It Changing?

15/12/2019

It's Getting Hotter! If we keep up our bad habits bad things will happen! Do what I say and all will be O.K.! It's the hottest it's ever been! Heat wave over Europe! Drought! Melting! Flooding! Wind! Fire! Pestilence! Plague! For God's sake everyone.... Run!

Hang on...Hotter compared to what? For how long? How much hotter? Where? When? Why?

Look over the graph presented below. Take an overview of the last 8000 years. As slow downward trend in global temperatures, right? Now look at the extreme right hand side. See how it's hooking upwards. That's what we've been freaking out about, during our tiny, miniscule, insignificant period of time covered by our lifespans.

So, is the line going to continue going up as the Alarmists predict? Are we truly at a peak in global heat and is it increasing as they claim it to be. Coming back to a time frame we are comfortable with (ie. a couple of hundred years, not thousands) take a look at the charts presented below.

Apparently we're not at extreme temperatures, at least in the United States, where the best real temperature records have been collected and documented over time. They seem to show that in our century we've been a lot hotter, particularly back in the 30's and 40's where we had some really extreme heat events!

And in looking at the extreme right side of these more recent charts the "hook up" mentioned above seems to have flattened and is even beginning to hook down slightly. Hard to believe we are in a long term trend up towards unbearable temperatures even though we constantly refer to heat waves, droughts and forest fires as being indicative of a global warming trend.

The paper below explains Global Warming and gives a description of how it has / is being measured worldwide. It has some cute graphics which shows changes over specific time periods and tries to relate this to man's activities as well.  Comparing their observations to the 60 year cycle of climate change is interesting because they coincide, strongly implying global temperatures are Sun driven. The much flaunted rise in temperatures coincides with the end of the last minimum (1970) and the onset of 11 year cycles rising in temperature to a peak in the 2000's.

In spite of our newscasts tendency to blow up the severity of our weather there's nothing to indicate that we are into any kind of trend towards any kind of weather extremes.

There is a lot of fuss about the Arctic ice melting due to global warming. Data shows that indeed the Arctic is warming faster than other areas of the planet, particularly compared to the Southern Hemispheres and particularly compared to Antarctica.

This is interesting because it is well known that Arctic Ice floats on water and Antarctic Ice sits on a land base. Warming in the arctic is explained by Morner who shows that Sun cycles alter Earth rotation and cause warm ocean currents to advance northward in warm periods (from 1970's to early 2000's) and to draw back southward in Cold periods (1940 to 1970) especially during 350 year Grand Maxima or Grand Minimums (Maunder Minimum). This would alternately heat or cool Arctic ice from below (not above) and ultimately the general area itself. Not C02 based, but, once again due to natural Sun cycles. In much more detail, please view the following:

The chart above only goes to 2010 and does not reflect the fact that cycle 24 has diminished over 23 and that cycle 25 is about to come upon us with a much more diminished energy level. Morner's predictions of withdrawal of warm northern currents and the replacement with cold Arctic waters may indeed be underway as we start to see signs of growing coolness in our northern climates. 2030 is the key date, the gateway to warm? or cold? To be continued...

Or, we could get some perspective on all that snow that's melting around the world.

Please note: these images and the discussions surrounding them are easily found on Google. I'm not even going to attempt to make a bibliography because this isn't a scientific paper, it's an opinion piece. If you doubt me go search them out. The exercise is quite revealing.
